AMBA’s 24th Annual National Medical Billing and Coding Conference brought together hundreds of healthcare professionals in Las Vegas to learn, connect, and discuss the future of medical billing and coding.
The RXNT team recently returned from Las Vegas, NV, where we had the privilege of attending the American Medical Billing Association’s (AMBA) 24th Annual National Medical Billing and Coding Conference. This event brought together hundreds of billing and coding professionals, all eager to learn, connect, and discuss the evolving landscape of the healthcare industry.
The two-day conference provided attendees with an in-depth look at the future of medical billing. I was joined by RXNT’s President & CEO, Randy Boldyga, and our National Sales Director, Max Rodriguez, and we were thrilled to join the conversation and share our perspective on the healthcare technology market, along with how RXNT’s technology is streamlining and improving software processes for healthcare professionals.
In this recap, I’ll highlight two trending themes we heard over and over again during our time at AMBA’s 2024 National Medical Billing and Coding Conference.
What Were the Trending Topics at AMBA 2024?
The Impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Cybersecurity
Like most conferences in 2024, AI was a trending topic. AI is transforming healthcare by streamlining decision-making, processes, and patient care; however, that doesn’t mean it’s free from security and data privacy complexities.
AI requires access to large amounts of sensitive healthcare data to produce the best results, heightening the risk of data breaches and cyberattacks. To mitigate this, healthcare practices must implement robust security measures.
During sessions like, “The Rise of AI in Medical Practices and Cybersecurity Consideration,” attendees learned how to safely implement and utilize AI, along with some effective strategies for enhancing cybersecurity. Healthcare professionals must maintain a well-defined security process that includes ongoing training for team members, regular audits, incident response plans, encrypted data, updated systems, and more.
How Health Tech Supports Billing Compliance
Accounting for inflation, the average cost to rework a denied claim ranges from approximately $32-$152, meaning that healthcare providers are likely spending thousands or hundreds of thousands of extra dollars annually to rework claims.
We spoke with many billing and coding professionals about opportunities to simplify the claims process and reduce the likelihood for denials. Of course, it’s unrealistic for healthcare professionals to remember every regulation, policy, and code associated with each insurance payer. That’s why software with automated tasks—like claim scrubbing, charge capture, denial management, and data-driven reporting—can streamline the billing process and lower the chance of denied claims.
Who Won RXNT’s Giveaways at AMBA 2024?
At this year’s conference, we hosted two giveaways for a cooler and a pullover to help give back to the dedicated community of professionals who are transforming the future of healthcare billing and coding.
Congratulations to Shawna B. for winning our YETI Hopper Flip giveaway and Kristal N. for winning our RXNT-branded Adidas quarter-zip giveaway!
We’re already looking forward to next year’s AMBA conference! Until then, you can get in touch with us or schedule a demo to learn more about our award-winning suite of healthcare software.
